Watershed Residency, Summer 2018
I was invited to attend a two week residency at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle, Maine, by my friend Taylor Carter. Taylor had organized a session called Breaking Tradition in which she invited designers, curators, and non-traditional ceramic artists from all over the country (and Canada) to come together to create and share in making.
Watershed is like clay camp for grownups- you eat incredibly well, connect with amazing people, and devote uninterrupted time to your practice in a rustic studio on a farm.
I drew a lot and hand-built big terracotta pots that I then drew on. I also threw a bunch of pots that I then drew on. Here are some photos of those pieces and some of the drawings from this experience.
